Advice about babies skin

My daughter has got loads of red veins on one of her cheeks and she also keeps coming up in rashes where she has skin rolls and really dry skin/cradle cap - just wondered if anyone else’s baby had any of this and any advice to help them? Only thing seems to help with the dry skin is coconut oil but I’m concerned that her cheek is covered in these red veins and don’t seem to be getting better - is it justified to take her to the doctor about this? Thank you

Hi, speak to your health visitor about the veins on her cheek and if you don't have any luck your GP. Babies can be born with all manor of dry skin / little veins / birth marks that eventually fade over time.
Child's farm moisturiser is amazing for dry skin and can he used from birth.
For cradle cap, put some olive oil on babies head and leave it for 20 minutes and then just gently brush the head with a really soft baby brush, it'll all just brush off x

How often do you bath her? My DS’s dry skin improved loads when we bathed him only twice a week. Obviously still top & tail!

Hi, every baby is different so seek advice 1st but my personal experience, I've got 17 & 14yr old boys & an 11wk old baby girl. They all had really bad, flaky, dry sore skin & it turned out they have an allergy to cows milk protein, I'm not sure what way your feeding but it's worth looking into if your wee bubs is formula fed. My baby is now on specialist medical milk & is doing much much better. Her reflux is settling better & she is just generally happier since I changed. Hope this helps even in a small way xxx

Thank you for your replies - took daughter to doctors yesterday who prescribed oilatum junior moisturiser which as soon as I put it on her skin it went bright red and then looked really sore a few hours later, the cream made it worse so won’t be using that again. Doctor suggested Childs farm non fragranced moisturiser as turned out one I tried on her before was fragranced or cerave so will give them both ago.

@Seainasive - I try to only bath her a couple of times a week now but been having to try use cradle cap shampoo when I do but I stopped using body wash but HV said need to use body wash once a week as it helps with moisturising apparently - such a mindful but do think it’s helped her body not be as dry since bath less.

@Mumofthree17143mths - interesting you said that as I’ve been wondering about milk allergy, she’s on comfort formula at the moment because she had lots of tummy aches on normal formula but my partner has a milk intolerance and recently she’s become quite sicky when burping and mucus in poos sometimes. She gets rashes on her belly sometimes but I was told that was a heat rash but it’s weird as her dry sore skin on her face is only on one said.
I’ll mention milk allergy to the doctor when I go again

Thank you all for your help, so upsetting when FTM and see your babies skin looking sore, just want to be able to make it better for them x

@AmyFTM a tell tail sign of a milk allergy is a wee red ring around the wee bum area & I was told that it can run in families, so it would be worth getting it checked. As I said all wee ones are different but my wee lady is much more settled & changing her milk was a god send for her skin, even the cradle cap is much better. Please keep in touch, I'd love to know how you get on, xx

The most effective thing I found for cradle cap was the Johnsons Baby Cottontouch hair and scalp oil - use as PP indicates for olive oil but it was much more effective at getting it off. Though it is scented so if your DD has sensitive skin it might not be ideal
