Pushchair advice - lightweight, seat from birth?

Can anyone recommend a pushchair with:

  • a seat that lies flat/with footmuff that is parent facing
  • all terrain tyres
  • lightweight and reasonably compact when folded
  • can come with adapters to clip car seat in? (We are probably going for Cybex Cloud Z or Maxi Cosi Pebble)

Thank you!

You'd get all that apart from the all terrain tyres with a Bugaboo Bee. I'm not sure what you're looking for exists, but you can get newborn inserts for proper off road buggies like Out n About.

The cybex eezy twist 2 would probably give you most of that, though you'd need to buy a footmuff separately.

I agree with PP not sure you'll find a pushchair that fits all those boxes.

Uppababy Cruz with the infant snug seat might be a decent compromise. Small and light is a tough one to combine with all terrain wheels though.

We are looking at the cybex eezy twist, our priorities are small when folded, and parent facing. I’m not sure it’s wheels are that good for all terrain, but the all terrain wheels are larger and therefore add to the size when folded. So you probably can’t have both of those from your list.

We have a cybex mios. It’s very lightweight, lays flat from birth and also folds pretty compactly. I’ve never had a problem with it in the park/ on uneven footpaths but I wouldn’t describe it as all terrain. When I looked it seemed you get get compact and lightweight or all terrain. It’s obviously compatible with the cloud z.

Lightweight/compact and all terrain are opposing characteristics, you won't get both in one buggy.

What kind of terrain do you need it for? Reasonably kempt paths in the woods? Actual countryside? Gravel, sand?

Joolz Hub. We love ours.

We have a bugaboo fox2. It truly is all terrain. But lightweight and compact it is not.

We also have a second hand bugaboo bee. It’s nimble and small and great for chucking in and out the car. But it can’t cope with the sand dunes near my parents or the hills near my in laws.

I’ve not tested all pushchairs, but I’m not sure truly ‘all terrain’ and ‘lightweight and compact’ are two features that come naturally together. How ‘all terrain’ do you need it to be?

Sarah239 · 30/01/2022 19:44

Thank you everyone!

Yes good point that all terrain and compact won't mix...! Really I just want one that I'm not going to break my back lifting in to the car, most of the time I will be using it on pavements/the odd gravel path so it doesn't have to be super robust... just would like the option of going on the odd forest walk maybe on a muddy footpath. Rough terrain use won't be frequent though I shouldn't think so not as important as the rest.

As you've said I don't think any of the true all terrains are that light. We've got the Mountain Buggy Terrain which can cope with most stuff you'd walk on and I really like it. It would meet all your criteria but is definitely not the lightest buggy on the market. However I can lift it in and out of the car with the wheels on without too much trouble and you can take the wheels off easily to make it lighter if you want to. You can also run with it which is great if you're into that. I'd happily buy it again.

Consider a sling for the off pavement walks or have a 2nd hand out and about nipper in addition to a Bee
