i'd like to do some reading about techniques, hints, tips etc before I start in the next couple of months.

But would like to get a story book that is good for ds.

I got 'My Potty Book for Girls' for DD and she really enjoyed looking at it. She went through the process smoothly. There's an equivalent for boys.

Thanks, saw the potty book for boys on amazon and wondered if it was any good, did you read anything yourself?

I like toddler taming by christopher green, not for children to read but very helpful on everything toddler related.

There's a lovely picture story book called "I want my potty" by Tony Ross. My dds loved it when they were potty training.
Look here

I have 2 older DC so knew what to do with DD. With my first I used 'What to Expect- The Toddler Years' which is pretty sensible and worked a treat with all 3.

I think the key is to wait until your DC is more than ready and then be very, very calm once you start the process.

Good luck!

DD got her potty book, and potty 7 months before we began.

Kind of seconding 'My Potty Book for [insert relevant sex of child]' - made me want to rip my brain out, but DD did potty train like a dream, there may be a connection. Or not.

weve got the i want my potty-tony ross and bear in the big blue house which is good as child can 'flush' the tiolet and it teaches flushing etc too.

I agree. I know that blardy book off by heart and it is sooooo boring. However DD identified with 'Molly' and wanted to be just like her ie using a potty, not nappies.hjnnn

Thanks all.

As you are feeling so helpful, do any of you know of books that help with the transition to the toilet?
