My baby has fallen and hit his head 3 times in the last 2 days. He's been cruising for a couple of months and is really good at it, climbing literally everything for about a month, but I think he was a bit under the weather and just lost his sense of balance. First time was with DH, next time I was there - he just fell holding onto a chair leg he hadn't fallen off for over a month and third time I actually had my hands ready to catch him and he fell in a direction I didn't expect. Up to now we've tried to let him explore and only been really cautious with new things but we're now being super super careful with him for a few days to check his balance is OK etc but I'm worried whether he's alright. He never cried for that long and none of the NHS warning signs but has 3 little bruises. I don't seem to see other babies with bruises on their faces - am I just not being careful enough? Should I take him to the GP?

How old is he? Toddlers fall all the time when they start learning to walk, but usually onto their bottoms. Is he climbing onto things?

All 3 of mine have walked at 10 months so have been doing what your DC is doing now at the same age. It looks so scary because they look too small to be trying to walk and fall really. I never took mine to the GPs after a fall because they were obviously not falling from a height and it wasn't onto a really hard surface. Never prolonged crying either.

What sort of surface is he falling onto? We put a rug down to try and soften the landing.

This is just the start of the bruises, long as it's not from a height, he's not sick, prolonged crying etc he'll be fine.

Is he falling forward?
As pp they do tend do fall backwards on their bottoms

He's falling forwards - all 3 times he's pulled up onto a chair leg or table leg and then somehow lost his grip and hit his head on the chair/ table which is quite hard or onto tiled floor. Our house is open plan and so far I've let him explore on his own if I'm nearby and only put him in his cot if I'm going to the loo etc but I think I'm going to have to only let him out if I'm 100% focused - not checking emails or sorting laundry next to him.

Ah ok I understand!
Yes just have to be fully focused. Or get some play pen wall things and corner off where your sofa etc is and let him have free run there.

This sort of thing and you can put them how you want
