Taking one side off the cot?

I have an M&P atlas cotbed and I'd like to take the side of the cot off, but leave the bars on the other side against the wall along with the two tall end panels, as opposed to taking both sides off and turning it into an actual toddler bed.
Has anyone else done this?
I've got the instructions and will change it to the toddler bed if there's no other option but would prefer to remove just one side for now so being nosey to find out if anyone else has managed it.
TIA

Hi, Just wondered if you tried this and was is successful? I want to do the same but not sure if it will work.
Many thanks

I'm not sure about the Atlas but our M&P Flynn was quite complicated to turn into a toddler bed - I thought we'd be able to just take the sides off but my husband had to take the whole thing apart and put it back together again!

Sorry I've just seen your message, we didn't go ahead with it at the time,? She settled and is happy in her cot again although she's now approaching 3 so may consider it again soon 😬
If you find a simple way to do it, you can let me know 😂

We did this for our DS a few years ago with the M&P Atlas cot before later converting fully to cotbed. It is achievable but it's not designed to be set up that way so when you do it you'll notice holes (drilled holes for screws/attachments) that you previously couldn't see and also you'll notice it's a tad wobbly compared to when it's set up properly as it's not secured in a rectangular shape anymore.

It is just a case of taking it apart almost fully to get the side off then rebuilding as if it's there. I will emphasize it's not designed to be used that way so bear that in mind when deciding if it's safe for your DC.

I will add, it did look quite nice in a sort of day bed style however the practicality of making the bed was so much easier when it was fully a cotbed and my DS preferred it as a cotbed because it felt grown up. We changed it at about 18 months old because DS hated the cot and the battle wasn't worth it 🤣

We did this with 2 different cots and a cot bed, they were super sturdy even with one side off.
