What counts as excessive thirst?

I sometimes get a bit obsessive about looking for certain signs of health issues in both me and my 22mo due to traumatic stuff that’s happened to my family in the past.

One thing I seem to latch onto every now and again is excessive thirst. What wound you say classes as excessive thirst? My little boy has been asking for a drink a few times a day recently but I’m unsure if this is just because he’s learned how to ask for a drink. He has maybe 2-3 toddler sized cups of water a day. He eats plenty and doesn’t seem more tired than usual. There’s lots of times I give him a drink with his meal and he doesn’t touch it.

Basically what I’m trying to ask is would excessive thirst be very obvious?

That's not obsessive thirst.

Obsessive thirst is drinking and still being thirsty at the end. Your mouth feeling so so dry all the time.

It’s recommended everyone has 6 to 8 drinks a day so I would say 2 to 3 drinks is far from excessive.

I'd say that's less than he should be having really.

And yes, excessive thirst would be obvious.
