Hi, I have a 3 month old daughter and the skin on her face is so dry. I’ve been applying baby coconut oil but a few hours later the dry skin comes back again, I am going to take her to a doctor but just wanted to see if I could get some advice/opinions first

Mine had some dry skin on his forehead and I found a little of baby aveeno sorted it for him. It's gone completely now.

I've been using pure coconut oil from supermarket shelf and it's been working really well, I looked at the Child's Farm coconut oil but it has perfume and a few other chemicals in it so thought it might irritate. I have used Child's Farm unscented moisturiser and Aveeno Baby emollient cream on my 4 year old since he was a baby, every day after bath, and they've both worked well. I had severe eczema as a child so am very proactive in keeping my babies' skin moisturised!

DS has eczema and DD dry skin and the best bit of advice I got from a Dr was to moisturise the bad areas as much as possible which really does help.

Coconut oil is good, but I would probably try an emollient. I use baby aveeno and when DD has a bad patch use on waking, every nappy change and before bed and usually goes.

Highly recommend Weleda calendula cream and also Burts Bees multipurpose ointment, I use both on my son's dry cheeks Smile

Another vote for baby aveeno. It's runny and will go on much better than coconut oil

Another vote for weleda candula (may have spelled wrongly sorry) but I use the soap too and helped so much with our skin issues. Also oat baths helped massively too -so I put porridge oats into an old sock and held under running bath water then left the sock in the bath too so it was really oaty. Also I only use vegan products on my dc now too.

Baby aveeno is great (the dark blue one) also just something my dermatologist told me, if a baby has excema you shouldn’t put any food based product on the skin before they’ve eaten that food (so nothing with almond oil or coconut oil) because of the immune response of excema it can trigger an allergy. I didn’t realise and had been using coconut oil but apparently it’s quite new knowledge so they tend to say avoid coconut oil on small babies now xx

Friend's baby/toddler suffered from very dry skin on body and scalp. Cutting dairy from his diet helped him.
