Hi 😊 my son is nearly 3 months and he's gone from pooing once a day to about 6 times - and I've noticed the poo looks slimy as well as weird as that sounds. Should I be concerned? Gross pic attached!

Does he have a cold at all? My 3 month old currently has a cold and her poo is a bit mucosy due to it. If not could it be a sign of an allergy/food sensitivity?

My daughter occasionally did these kinds of nappies, but I would say because they're so frequent you should give your GP a call about it because mucus in nappies is meant to signal a problem

Unless as the PP said, they've had a cold

Formula or b fed? We had moucousy poos about ten/12 times a day for a long time with blood in too. We were under paediatrician and never got an answer. It went on for several months and when he was finally in solids it cleared up. Mystery

Have they just had their 8 week injections?
The rotarvirus can cause this.
Sometimes mucus is the gut healing itself so they may have had a tummy bug they are recovering from, if you are breastfeeding they could be reacting to something you are eating.
At 7 weeks my daughters poop turned green and was mucusy I am currently dairy free to eliminate cow milk allergy .

Mine had this when she was a bit older, it was a stomach bug that lasted months. (Crypto spyridium picked up from the local swimming pool 🤢)

My dd used to get these types of mucus-y poos or during a cold particularly if she caught a cold from not wearing enough layers in this weather or if she was out in a windy cold weather where I forgot to bring a rain cover to block the wind whilst strolling around with the pushchair. It could mean something else but in my own experience with dd, it always coincided with the cold due to the weather.
