Molars, dear god, when will it end

Just a moan in search of some solidarity. DD is 16th months - the first of her first molars broke through just before Christmas, two more are (partway) through and we can see the fourth just below the surface. It's now been over a month of non-stop hard-core teething. She used to sleep through (until 4.45am but that's a different story). Now she's still waking early but she's also awake at least once, sometimes twice in the night with teething pain. The last time she was sleeping this badly I was on maternity leave and it turns out being this sleep deprived plus attempting to hold down a job on top is Sad. Also the early mornings mean she's very high risk for a danger nap late morning - today she fell asleep in the buggy on the way from the park to lunch, and spent a good (noisy) 30 mins getting down for her nap. Fist in mouth the whole time. Gel used to give her enough respite to get down quietly but she's recently taken against it.

Who else is in the middle of this right now? I feel like we need one of those due date-yay they're nearly here threads except for bloody teeth.

The worst of the molars was around 3-4 months for the first molars and then slightly less (2-3m) for the ones a year later.

Yeah, it's horrible, and it's making me shudder even thinking back to it.

I have no tips save for remembering that once they are through that bloody tooth never has to come through again, and this week eventually end.

Good luck 😬

3-4 months OMG!!! Here I have been, naively thinking that a month in, the end must be nearly in sight!

My DD was the worst with molars. It was at least 6-8 weeks of it. She struggled with it massively. First set Christmas, second set the following Christmas. The joy!

Anyway, nothing else helped but Nurofen for her. Always was the case for her teething. Gels, granules, Calpol, did nothing. And she hated teething toys, or anything near her mouth. Wouldn't even put her hands or fingers in.

It'll be over eventually, and then things will return to normal mostly. We did need to do some sleep retraining both times, but nothing that took forever.

Just sending over a hand hold. It's tough.

Our dds first set of molars took about 6-8 weeks. On the really bad nights calpol or neurofen but we also used anbesol liquid (not the gel) - it was fantastic, very strong anaesthetic type stuff. I’m already dreading the next set of big teeth 🙈

First molars were hell. Actual hell. DS was around 13 months so it coincided with my return to work. I still have nightmares. Like others, it took months to get through it. Second molars were nothing like the first ones thankfully.
