To majorly panic that I will have 4 under 4?

I recently found out I was pregnant after my husband and I had debated for 6 months whether to try for a third child or call it quits with two.

Today I went for an early dating scan and can't quite believe that I am expecting twins. We have a three year old and a 22 month old so to say I am in shock is an understatement. We live in a large three bedroom flat, we have a big car but not big enough for 4 car seats plus a double pram, we have kept all of our baby items but now will need to source a second lot. I am the main breadwinner but will definitely need to return to work part time after mat leave.

Basically I'm just looking for positive stories, hints and tips on how to make this all work because as much as I feel very blessed, I also feel very overwhelmed.

Congratulations. I had 4 under 4 for a while but due to DH’s failed vasectomy. No twins OP and youngest is now 2.5 so coming out the other side now. We live in a 3 bed and fortunately had 2 girls who share and now the boys do. When I get back to work we will extend to get more space (currently studying). Cars are difficult and we ended up with a Ford Custom for seats and suits DH’s work, easier now as older ones are in high backed boosters which are slimmer and fit the seats better. The first months were hard, got out as much as I could, DH and I had a sort of rota so we both got sleep, we got the elder ones in to good sleep routines and bedtimes too. DH is self employed so was able to be a little flexible with hours and did for a time cut back. Covid threw a spanner in the works, and being at home so much was tough for us all and chaotic. If I was to be honest except that the next two years will be tiring and just do the basics, take any help you can whether family or paid for. On a positive, my 4dc are very close, they play together a lot (and squabble)Grin, they achieve a lot of milestones etc together from toilet training, riding bikes to tying shoelaces and DH and I are finally getting more time and energy as the youngest comes out of the baby/toddler years so no matter how tough it feels it does and will ease up.

No helpful experience but wanted to say congratulations as well - hard work but from what EcoCustard said it sounds like you will end up with a wonderfully fun family after the first few years!

Congratulations. Yes it will be hard, yes you will manage it. I know a couple of people who ended up in a similar situation. It is really strange how going from 2-3 often does end up as going from 2-4.
