Does anyone not regret having a vbac?

Still at TTC stage with my second, but already wondering what I’ll do next time round.

With DC1 I did all sorts of wonderful birth prep and hypnoborthing got me through an incredibly long labour, but the second I got admitted to the delivery suite it went t* up and ended in a section. The section itself was fine and I’d happily have one again (a part of me finds this the way less scary option). I know a Vbac could go wrong and I’ve already been told that I’d need to be consultant led and on the delivery suite if I go for a vbac. I know, I know I could really fight it and go for midwife unit, but I’m not happy enough with the risks considering how it went last time and the fact my scar could rupture.

I don’t really want more trauma and a horrific birth experience but I wonder if I’ll regret not trying.

Please tell me your (honest!) stories. With my first I also really hated the internal examinations so that didn’t help one bit. I felt like a piece of meat even before the section. The section at least got it done. 🤣

I wish people would talk about it all more!

Planned / ELCS here then ended up with EMCS 6 weeks early…..wouldn’t hesitate to plan a C section again in the future.

I had emcs for my 1st and wanted to 'see' how a vbac was for my 2nd which I did and I am glad I did just so I knew, but for my next I would have a planned cs just for less stress. Both labours were long and while I accept that my cs recovery was mild compared to others I was cut for the vbac which required some recovery also so it just depends.
Anything can happen so just go with what you are comfortable with and dont pressure your self. I dislike using the word 'natural birth' as that automatically gives a negative sense to cs as you having your baby is natural anywhich way! So as long as you and the baby is fine dont get hung up on the process to the point you antagonise when you need to take another option. We are fortunate to be in an environment where we have them.

I had a section with first baby then a VBAC with second.
If I was to do it again I'd have another section, no question about it.
If they are offering it you'd be mad not to take them up on that!
I had a forceps delivery and had a bladder prolapse which I since had to have repaired.
At least with the Section you've some hope of being able to pee and poo and have sex with some normality for the remainder of your life Smile

I had a horrific VBAC. Very traumatic. But afterwards I felt superhuman. It's my proudest achievement and when I now have more confidence in all areas of my life, knowing that if I got through that, everything else is a walk in the park in comparison. So I don't regret it. However I'm pregnant again and I'm pushing for an elective section. I feel no need to go through it twice.
