Hi all- so we are starting my girl in nursery in a few weeks and she only naps in her pushchair, and I’ve just found out nursery don’t use pushchairs for naps.

What are we going to do???

@Timeturnerplease

Nurseries have magic sleep ladies. Eldest was a bloody awful nap refuser and needed vigorous buggy rocking and white noise to send her off (while she howled in protest). Nursery nailed cot naps on the first day there with just the white noise and some bottom patting. She still only slept for half an hour but I was astounded at the Tapestry photos of her happily napping in a cot. She never once napped in a cot at home, ever.

I repeat: nursery ladies are MAGIC.

And so are us nursery gentlemen.

It can be done. I think part of it is children are more able to accept a change of routine when there's a change of environment too. Plus, so much new stimulation means they get more tired at nursery.

They are miracle workers. My son is horrendous at naps and he has a nap at nursery. He also won’t eat sandwiches at home but eats them there! It’s a total betrayal 😂
I know!! I pick up my DD from nursery and they say “she had fish pie with carrots for lunch and a marmite sandwich for tea”. She absolutely HATES those foods at home.

Witchcraft. No other possible explanation.

My daughter also would only ever nap whilst breastfeeding or in the pushchair at home and yet slept fine at nursery from her first full day. I said I'd leave the pushchair with them just in case and they said "Oh we won't use it." And they didn't, it wasn't necessary. I think there's definitely an element of magic and also the kids get kind of swept along with what everyone else is doing and accept it.

Wow am I alone? I can get him to nap for two hours at home but at nursery he never does more than 20 mins!!

My little boy was like your dd. He slept the very first day at nursery for 2 hours! I couldn't believe it.

@ShirleyPhallus

Special bribery for extra messy play maybe? Or they lace the food with sugar 🤣

Hugasauras · 19/01/2022 00:38

DD contact napped with me when I sent her to nursery. She slept on a floor mattress on her first day. They are wizards I tell thee!

Hugasauras · 19/01/2022 00:39

Oh and yes to food too. DD has second helpings and eats everything at nursery. Comes home to the meal I've lovingly prepared: 'I don't like that' 🙃🙃🙃

They should sell whatever they do in a bottle, they would make millions haha. Glad it worked out

Nursery workers are magic.

My DD STILL only sleeps at home on the boob in my bed, but at nursery? Goes and climbs into their cot beds and falls asleep.
