Routine Vaccinations

FTM please be kind,

My LB just got his first set of vaccinations at 9am this morning.

I gave him paracetamol as recommended by the nurse, he's about 8 hours after his vaccines and hasn't sparked a fever.
I suffer really badly with anxiety and have been wondering if he's still able to spike a fever or has it been long enough that it won't spike now?

I'm hoping he won't get one because I think I'll have a hard time dealing with the fact he has a fever and will be constantly worried incase it gets out of hand.

Anyone any advice?

Bless you. Really thinking of you. Being a FTM is so anxiety provoking.

I dreaded every set of vaccinations for this reason. If I remember correctly for the 8 week jabs my daughter was out of sorts for a few days with a fever and upset stomach. Check his temp over night if you’re concerned just to make sure you don’t miss anything. You can always call 111 if he has any symptoms you’re not happy with.
Hope you’re ok. You’re doing a great job x

It's one of those things where each kid can react differently. Mine didn't se bothered and never got a temp. She had her 3 year boosters recently and apart from being shocked at the time, she didn't have a reaction again. Lucky girl! I know other sher age that were out of sorts for days.

@Onlyinstillwaters thank you, he's not normally a crier and he's been crying on and off all day. Breaking my heart but I know he's probably fine. He still hasn't got any warmer than he usually is, if anything he's colder because I've just got him in a vest with a light blanket on his legs. My anxiety was bad before I had him so this has just increased it tenfold. He's still feeding fine and he's peeing and pooping normally for the time being, and still smiling away at me when I talk to him so here's hoping he's all good.

@SnowdropFox here's hoping my little one is just like yours! I'm just anxious about his fever getting too high honestly cause I feel like I would just panic too much...

You could always give him another dose of calpol to help prevent a fever - our health board recommends one before and 2 further doses same day, 4 hours apart.

Totally get the worry! I was obsessively checking his temp that evening, it was up to 38.4 then went back down before bed. Your little one will be back to normal in a few days!
