Planned surgery for 8 months old but he's had a fever for the last 3 days.

Should this go ahead? It doesn't seem right to put my baby under general anaesthetic & have surgery when he's unwell in the first place. It's a small ish procedure as he's got an undescended testicle.

Husband thinks I'm overreacting.

  • he's been drinking and eating very little. Fever is between 38.4-39.1.

I'd ring the hospital and check - they may tell you not to bring him if he's ill. If you do take him, they will do basic observations as part of his booking in, so they may decide at that point that he's not well enough.

Hope he feels better soon Flowers

No way should your baby have a GA. Telephone and let them know he’s unwell. They won’t do it whilst he’s poorly.

They won't do it anyway. You need to ring the hospital.

Have they given you guidelines? I truly doubt they will want to operate on a baby who is unwell. You need to contact them - they will have protocols. I'm fairly sure it'll be postponed in these circumstances.

Plus it is of course possible he has covid. Any likelihood of this do you think? Hope he's better soon OP.

@heldinadream he's had his covid test on Saturday with his dad who would take him and they said they only contact us if positive and no response.

I had the pre assessment call in December. The surgery was supposed to be on 04/01 but moved due to Covid (I wish it had gone ahead as he was as healthy as a spring chicken because the boys had been home since 15/01 so no nursery bugs could have got to the baby. Baby is still home with my but my toddler brings the bugs in it seems. Anyway because the pre assessment was in December I've forgotten everything they said then.

I'll ring them.

Thanks everyone. I'll speak to my husband and tell him that I am not overreacting.
