Nowhere for men to change baby

Been in 2 airports today - 1 in the uk and 1 abroad

The baby change facilities were in the ladies - nothing else available (my husband did ask) ended up taking baby back to me and I had to then go and change her in the ladies

Seriously in 2022!

What would he do if he was travelling alone !

I can’t believe things like this are still happening.

Just a rant not really sure what I’m looking for from this post 😂

We haven’t had a big problem with this, especially at airports if I recall correctly. Maybe there’s often a disabled and baby change one? With covid it’s been quite a while!

dementedpixie · 15/01/2022 13:03

It is shit
What about the disabled toilets? Often find baby changing in there

edin16 · 15/01/2022 13:08

I don't think I've ever actually been into a baby changer that was in the woman's toilets ever. Everywhere I've been it's been in the disabled toilet or has a completely separate changing area. I've only done 1 airport change but that was the same. It was a nice tidy room and not a bathroom.

Well I can’t speak for others, bur had your husband asked me if he could come in and change baby whilst I was in there, I wouldn’t have minded in the slightest.
Although I get that maybe he didn’t want to ask.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 15/01/2022 13:13

It’s never happened before - just mad that it happened twice in one day!

Usually there’s one in a disabled toilet! I did look and - nope not here!

It was London city airport so a small one.

Husband didn’t want to go in as it was a small toilet and there was a few woman in there and he felt he couldn’t go in. Guess it he was alone he would have asked

There are facilities available. Worth an email to the airport to ask them to let staff know.

I’ve actually emailed them!

Good to know for future

Il look for it next time as we will be there again in a few weeks

Happened to my husband a lot in pubs in the early days - he’d have to come back and get me to change my daughter because the baby change was in the ladies. It’s ridiculous.

A lot of places do have separate baby change/disabled toilets but certainly not all

Incywinceyspider · 15/01/2022 14:00

I've experienced this quite a few times. Most memorable was a pub in Wales where the baby change was in the disabled cubicle in the women's toilets. The corridor to the toilet was so narrow that a wheelchair user actually couldn't get to the disabled toilet!

Sausagesausagesausage · 15/01/2022 14:03

I've had it twice - both in small country pubs and both times the bar staff offered to keep watch over the ladies so DH could go in and change DC.

We travelled a lot pre Covid and never had a problem in any airport.

MindyStClaire · 15/01/2022 14:26

We had it a couple of times in restaurants. Really pissed me off one day - had to let my food go cold while I breastfed, and then still couldn't bloody eat it because DH wasn't able to change the dirty nappy.

luxxlisbon · 15/01/2022 15:19

There’s definitely at least one baby change in London city that is just a baby room with an armchair, changing table and sink. It’s a small airport so I’m surprised the worker he asked said no.
I’ve only ever changed my baby there and never seen a table in the ladies.

This is definitely a problem in some places though, but I would say it’s improved a lot in recent years and continues to do so at least.
