Hi! Just looking for any experience or tips from peoples 1 year olds getting their jabs? My LO has his soon and I've heard there are 4 - one in each limb?! 😩 also - any side effects or anything I should watch out for? Thanks

It was 2 in each leg I think for my two. Risk of a temperature due to the Meningitis one so worth making sure you've got Calpol in and the side effects can kick in over a couple of weeks. We had a few grumpy days but not sure if it was jabs, teeth or just generally being 1yo!

The best thing about the 1 year jabs (vs the ones they have as babies) as that you can easily distract them afterwards with a biscuit or some chocolate buttons if you're so inclined (which I was).

Im a practice nurse and regularly give baby vaccines. There are 4 vaccines at 1yo, all injections (sorry). I do them two in each leg, mainly because theres a bigger surface area and im less likely to miss. One of the jabs is MenB, which is the one that causes grumpiness and temperatures so its best to give calpol because of that.

A plea from me, and probably all practice nurses - please hold their legs or arms tightly when the injection is happening! They are suprisingly strong!

Mine had two in each leg, its over and done in less than 30 seconds - hold them tight then big kiss and a bribe with a chocolate button or two!

My DC had a temp and sore limpy legs but calpol and letting her sleep when she wanted and within a day was back to normal.

2 in each leg.....you just hold in a vice like grip and the practice nurse will do them so quick he won’t have started crying until the last one is done
