Evening appointment for pre-school vaccinations

My 3.5 year old is due her preschool vaccinations and I called the GP surgery to arrange. The nurse is away for 3 months so they said they are using out of hours services at other practices rather than a cover. They gave me an appointment at 6.45pm at a different surgery which is 30 minutes drive from my house. I am thinking I should cancel the appointment and wait for the nurse to return to our normal surgery as 6.45pm seems too late for this, I think she will be too upset by it all and it's too late to give her a treat after - she normally goes to bed around 7pm. Am I being silly, should I just take my daughter and get it over and done with? Does anyone know if there is any issue delaying these injections for that long?

Thanks for any input in advance.

I wouldn’t, but only because 5mo DD2 aka No Nap Nancy the Second would be hysterically overtired by that point and make things 25x worse for DD1, who is 3.

If you don’t have a younger child’s bedtime to factor in I’d just take her to be honest, to get it over and done with. They can cope with staying up later at that age. Might even be best to get it done, have a treat in the car and then distracted by bedtime routine at home!

While it sounds like a pita, I would probably take the appointment. My worry would be that you could wait a couple of months and then find out that the reason for the nurses absence has been extended and you could find yourself in the same position in a few weeks time.

You’re being silly. Those illnesses would be much worse than one late bed time.

Becoming ill would disrupt her routine much more. Get them done and out of the way

Thanks all, I do have an 8 month old who will be a bit disrupted too, but will just take her and be done with it! As you've all said, it is only one late night.
