Birthday parties

Can someone explain the reasoning behind not attending childrens parties as "being worried about covid" when the children are together all day in school and the parents are practically touching each other while chatting during the school pick ups? 🤔

Who isn't attending? The child? Or the child and the parent?

I suppose if you're in a different environment ie a softplay, there are other children and families there who your kids aren't usually around. Also softplays are way more germy than a school (I'd imagine) since they rarely get thoroughly deep cleaned.

So I suppose it depends on where the party is (are they going to have to use public transport to get there?), who's going (kids from outside the class and/or extended family of the birthday child?), and the type of venue (softplay or somewhere with non-private hire so could be exposed to strangers).

I've just picked up COVID from going out for dinner with my work colleagues. I can only assume its from there as it was the only think out of my normal routine and I'm the only person I know who is ill)

Makes no sense then if they are already mixing and playing. I guess if its in your house they'd be mixing with your family too.
