What age is your kid?

Usually, you must wait till your kid gives you signs that he/she is ready to be potty trained. Some signs are them following you while you're in the bathroom, not pooping in their diaper for a longer duration than usual or even them just tugging at their diaper to remove it off.
I have been following Nurturey's blogs and they have been quite helpful!!! - nurturey.com/blog/toilet-training-a-practical-guide/

Hoping this will help you as well!! Good luck!

Take a few days or a week off if you can and stay home. Before trying have the potty out for a while so they are familiar with it, play dolls with it, bears etc. helps to relax them. I potty trained all 4dc with the chocolate button method. Day one, take to the potty or toilet every 15 mins asking if they need a wee or a poo. Ask them to try. If successful they get 1 button for a wee, 2 buttons for a poo. If they try lots of praise and if they don’t want to try, go back in a few minutes. Day two, lengthen the time, day 3 lengthen the time. Mine all cracked it by day 2-3 so we were able to venture out to the park. Once they are reliably dry reduce the buttons over a few days. I never used pull ups unless at bedtime as they confuse kids in my opinion as they are too similar to a nappy.

There's a book called 'Oh Crap' which many people find useful. I did.

Do it in the summer as so much easier to take shorts up and down than dungerees etc. A month before you try use Terry nappies so your child will feel wet when they release their bladder. They won't like feeling wet. Disposable nappies take wet feeling away from body so reduce need for trying to do wee on potty. Put child on potty every 1 1/2 hours or after a drink. Make a huge fuss of them if they were in potty. Clap hands offer a smarty sweet etc. Lots of praise about being a big boy/girl. All of my 3 were dry by 2 night and day. The 1 child that I used Terry nappies for was dry in day by 18 months.

Personally I waited until my DTs were ready and told me they wanted to wear pants instead of nappies. We’d tried a few times before but they just didn’t get it (and the house was swamped in wee!) then one day DS announced he’d like to not wear a nappy and that was that. DD followed a week or so later. They were 3 3/4.

They’re still not dry at night time yet, but during the day they’re good. I have every confidence they’ll be dry at night when they’re ready!
