Breast fed baby VERY windy

Hey mums,
My baby is now almost 15 weeks old. She is exclusively breast fed but with me pumping instead of feeding at the boob. She can’t quite manage breast feeding, she was 5 weeks premature and has a heart condition which means she’s very breathless.
She feeds really well and burps really well but she’s still left with humongous man sized farts! She’s so windy. Is this normal?

At times the wind doesn’t bother her at all and she breaks wind with no problem but every few weeks she seems to have a really bad time with it for a few days. Really intense crying, kicking, bringing knees to chest etc.
I’m not the absolute healthiest of people but other than maybe overindulging in chocolate I don’t eat badly. I eat a really balanced diet. Is there anything I could do, or stop eating to reduce the wind?

Really just want to know if it’s normal to be so windy! Cannot get over the farts.

Thank you in advance for any help

i know they say what you eat shouldn't affect your milk but dam when i eat curry it gave mine the absolute worst nappies .Its better that they are farting but when they cant.I had to express a very small amount of milk in a bottle and mix with gripe water to get mine to take it

Has she been checked for a tongue tie? This could affect latch on the breast and also account for the wind if she's not latching onto the bottle effectively. She could be swallowing lots of wind.

Hi, I’ve no idea if this is your baby’s issue but mine had giant man sized farts and when he was a toddler I realised that he was lactose intolerant. So he’s more or less dairy free now and his farts/poos have become normal. It might be hard for you, but experiment with cutting out dairy and see if it makes a difference. We haven’t had to cut it entirely, just milk, yoghurt, ice cream, cream and a few other obviously v dairy ones. Can get away with small amounts and cheese. I wish I’d clocked it sooner and saved him a lot of uncomfortable nights.
