Does lack of nutrition in pregnancy cause development delays?

I’m really concerned as my 13 month old seems quite behind development wise. DD is still not walking although cruises along. She is babbling and can say mama and dada but I don’t think with meaning. She points, claps etc however.
I suffered with really bad sickness the whole duration of pregnancy. I did take pregnancy vitamins but I worry now that wasn’t enough for her 😞 some days I barely ate through nausea and sickness. DD was born a week early due to being small. She was 5 pounds 12 however did quickly gain weight after.

A cruising, babbling 13month old who can say mama and dada, and point and clap doesn’t sound behind at all.
OP there is always a range for milestones. If the average age for first steps is 12months, that doesn’t mean than a baby who walks at 15months is behind. It wouldn’t be considered worrying until much later - think 24 months. The range for first words is similar. Some babies start talking before they’re 12months old, but no doctors are going start worrying about it unless they don’t have any words by their 2nd birthday.
Check out the advice about milestones again, but look at the range of what’s considered a normal time to hit each one, not just the average ages.

From the small amount of info you’ve given, she sounds completely normal. Even if there was some kind of delay, development is so multifactorial it would be impossible to draw a causative link between it and your nutrition status in pregnancy. Development is a huge interplay between genetics and upbringing, not single events or processes.

She doesn't sound delayed in the slightest. She sounds perfectly normal.

I remember being told by my dr that babies will always get everything they need and it will be you that's left without. Fwiw my dd didn't not cruise nor speak at 13 months, in fact she didn't say much at 2 either and wouldn't even put her feel on the floor til 15m. She's now a bright and active 8 year old with a fab vocabulary

I had two babies in quick succession and was breast feeding and pregnant for some months . Kids are fine the one that ended up run down and with Shingles with me . Don’t beat yourself up .

She doesn't sound delayed to me. My daughter didn't walk till 18 months and couldn't ever crawl or cruise. She is 6 now and can ride a bike with gears, skate and ski.

She does sound totally normal. Which part is worrying you? Is it that she can't walk yet?

My DD was flagged for being behind in her gross motor skills and put into physiotherapy but she was late to sit unassisted and couldn't pull herself up to stand at 9 months.

She ended up walking at about 20mo and now I totally 'normal' for gross motor, but has always been less sporty and physical as an older child.

Obviously to add, ask your doctor if you're concerned! They should be able to reassure you or help get testing if they think there's an issue.
