DD has a little tikes one which she loves. Its plastic which is great for us as we can move it around the garden throughout the year. Also we can give it a good blast which the pressure washer in the spring time so clean for the summer.

HoHoHo

iMustBeMad · 24/12/2007 20:03

depends on the height of your dd, ds would love a playhouse but at 3 he was already the height of a 5yr old and banged his head in all the plastic ones!

robinredbreast · 24/12/2007 20:35

would you say the wooden ones are taller ? im getting it for when dd is one
i know its too early at one but i really used to want one when i was small

Depending on the size of your garden, I'd be inclined to get a small shed or summer house. Then it should last them a few years and will at least have a use once they're fininshed with it. A friend added power to hers once their son became a teenager and he had his friends and music at the bottom of the garden

Small children love the Litteltykes one, but it is realy only useful while they're toddlers.

CarGirl · 24/12/2007 21:17

DD1 had a little tykes one and when I went onto have more dds including a giraffe like one (tall for age) I used their savings to buy a wooden one as it is much taller & bigger. OUr garden is very small and all paved it was the best £100 ever spent they've used it loads, the musical intruments live in it and it's handy for putting toys away in etc.

Depending on your circumstances I'd get a little tykes one 2nd hand and then upgrade to shed/summer house when they get older.

This is dd's playhouse (her actual one, as they make them bespoke), also bought when she was only one! I see it as a great investment, and highly recommend the service from this company.

Washersaurus · 24/12/2007 22:36

CantSleep - that house is absolutely fab - what a lucky DD! would you consider renting it out as it looks bigger than my current home

CantSleighWontSleigh · 24/12/2007 22:38

lol - holiday homes r us!

robinredbreast · 24/12/2007 22:39

bloody hell that is fab
did people think it was odd getting your dd that at one
did it cost you that much ?

Washersaurus · 24/12/2007 22:41

OMG I just spotting the £5000+ bit

CantSleighWontSleigh · 24/12/2007 22:44

Shhhh - you're not allowed to talk about money on MN - it's vulgar to have any don't you know .

We plan on staying here a looooong time, and why not give it to her when she can get years of enjoyment from it. A few people prob thought it was odd, but most just wanted to come and play in it .

mustrunmorewantsanewname · 24/12/2007 22:46

i like playing in it.

Washersaurus · 24/12/2007 22:47

Well I think it is absolutely lovely and well worth the investment by the looks of it (I want one, I want one )

I don't know why people get so upset about how others spend money - I'm skint and it doesn't bother me if someone is loaded and burning cash .

Washersaurus · 24/12/2007 22:49

OMG, sorry about my previous 'just spotting' post. I've only had one glass of wine honestly . I meant 'just spotted'.

See, I am skint and stupid..har har

robinredbreast · 24/12/2007 22:49

oh sorry can't sleigh
bloody lovely though
i also like the princess castle
how many children have you got if you don't mind me asking ?

im planning on having our garden landscaped all in order for dd

CantSleighWontSleigh · 24/12/2007 22:55

Just one so far, who is now 22 months .

See I wanted the garden landscaped before dd, but now it seems pointless, when it's just going to turn into one giant playground, so we're extending the house instead (planning permitting ).

robinredbreast · 24/12/2007 23:04

bloody heck are you my kindred spirt or something
we are hoping to have an extension too
although on the side of the house not the back

are you planning more children? if you don'y ind me asking? im a nosey bugger
but youve prob worked that out already lol

what else do you have in your garden ?

OP posts:
CantSleighWontSleigh · 24/12/2007 23:13

We've been trying for another for a year, but aren't very good where that's concerned (took over 4 years to conceive dd).

Extension to go right across back of house, as well as a loft conversion (seemed rude not too ).

In the garden currently..... huge shed (we don't have a garage), rose arbour (but that will come down when the extension goes up), sandpit (big German thing with cover), a child size picnic table/bench, little trampoline, couple of little tykes cars, 3 way rocker, swing, wooden garden furniture....think that's about it!

Is dd your first too?

robinredbreast · 24/12/2007 23:16

ohh i just love the garden furniture sooo cool

yes this is my 1st dd and the joy of my life
