Poor sleeper

My 5 month old daughter thrashes around all night. She constantly turns her head from side to side resulting in a bald patch on the back of her head, kicks her legs and slams her arms against the mattress. Most of the time she's still asleep. Anyone else experienced this, any suggestions?

Very normal for babies to get bald patches on their heads! I'd say not a lot you can do, I'd say embrace the fact she's asleep but sounds noisy haha!! When mine started moving around loads we put her in her cot in own room rather than next to me cos the noise was so annoying. But this coincided with 6m!

Is she in a smaller crib or next to me type one?

Babies can be quite noisy sleepers but I found my son was doing legs pick up and thrash down a lot until he went into a bigger cot and had space.

I read that they throw arms and legs down as a way of self settling.

She is in a next to me crib at the moment. A friend suggested putting her in her own room in a bigger cot but I just feel I'm not ready for that yet. My daughter also used to pick up legs and bang down untill I put a thin blanket over her legs and tucked it in right, now she just moved them around like she's trying to crawl.

We moved our ds into a cot in our room (5 months) because he was slamming legs and arms down in basket and I felt like he was waking himself up doing it (and me!), It has been much better since he has been in his cot and we will look to move into his own room in another month or so, I appreciate not everyone has space for a cot in the bedroom but the bigger cot definitely seems to have helped calm down the thrashing about

I never thought of moving the cot into our room but will definitely try it!
