Do I need to change my car when first baby comes

We have a 5 door Mini-Hatch.
First reaction to preparing for our first baby was we'll need a new car. We live one set of family (day visits only), but to my family its 1.5hours and usually worth staying over.
Atm even when me and OH travel to my family we fill the boot and backseat....
But then I'm sure others manage?
My sister bought a Q5.. I really don't think I need to think that big do I? For one kid.
I'm happy to change car... but like hatchbacks.. would moving to a Golf, A3, 1 series be of huge benefit?

I guess could see 'how it goes' - but I anything we want to do with the house and / or car, I'd love to do in coming months before baby arrives.

It is, of course, totally dependent on your lifestyle, but I wouldn't rush at the baby stage if you don't have to. Best to wait and see as is the case with a lot of baby things!

We have a Volvo and the car is lovely but the boot is very small. We can manage to put pram and carry cot. And used to bring seat back to add more space but usually I have had to sit in the back with Dd as she isn’t great at car journeys but is getting better. We have just about managed but if have second child will probably get a new car.

Try and see if you can manage with your car as buying a new one will be expensive and there’s lots to buy with a newborn and it all adds up

For DH's fun, get a fast saloon or estate, Legacy Turbo or 3 litre, Petrol 3 Series or similar. Would actually get used a bit and be fairly practical. We had a 2 seater (MR2 Turbo) before DC1 came along and it was fun but really not practical so barely got used.

Stuff expands to fit available space, we can fill our Mondeo estate for a weekend or a week and with access to a washing machine you don't need all the changes if clothes.

Major limiting factor will be car seat fitting around driver/passenger needed- and there are plenty of options nowadays. You might need to compromise on pram/buggy choice - we barely used a pram as slings/rucksack carriers worked better for us!
