DD1 (3yrs3mths) has been dry during the day for about 6 months but she goes to bed with her sippy cup and up until this week was absolutely soaked in the morning. However all this week she has woke during the night to go to the toilet but still had a damp nappy in the morning. She woke again last night about midnight for the potty and again at 7am this morning but this time she had a dry nappy, is it the wrong time to try her in knickers (with a piddle pad) at night with it being xmas eve and all the excitement?

Yes. My theory is that if they are out of nappies, they are out of nappies. Be prepared for a wet bed during the night so that you're not looking through cupboards for clean sheets etc. I put a potty in the bedroom on a rubber backed mat which worked really well. I also never gave them a drink going to bed. HTH

I didn't wait for the dry nappy as I knew that my son just liked to be able to wee in his nappy and not get out of bed. He was dry in the day from 2 1/2 and still in nappies at night until he was 4.

I bought a PEVA bed sheet so that you don't have to change it you can just wipe it down. I have a spare duvet in his wardrobe with a cover on and pillow so that if he was wet I could change the bed really fast.

And I went down the no pants route. Just a pyjama top. As he was used to going to the toilet he just got up and went there. If she is used to a potty then put it on a either a waterproof mat or pampers changing mat in her room.

Oh and we also cut that last night time drink. My son now has his last drink at tea time.
