DS is 2.5 and wakes at 5 or 5.30 every morning, sometimes earlier. Dd5 sleeps until about 6.

It's been five years since I slept past 7am, when do they ever sleep later?

I'm convinced sleeps begets sleep. How long does he nap? What time does he go to bed?
My 2 Yr old does 2 hr nap and sleeps 11.5hrs. If he gets a short nap or misses it then he's up at 5!

When teenage hormones kick in (about 12.5 here). They do get to an age that you can trust them to get up quietly and go and watch Cbeebies (or whatever) though.

Teenager. DD15 would happily sleep until lunchtime. Sadly I have spent so many years being woken at ridiculous o'clock that I'm awake by 5 or 6 (if I'm lucky). I used to love lie-ins

Oldest is usually awake by 6.30. He's 12 yrs.
His 10 yr old brother is usually awake by 7am.

I however, have no intention of getting up before 8am.

When they start coming home at the crack of dawn. At which point you will wish they were bawling safely from the cot rather than texting you at 3am to say they have 2% battery and are waiting for the night bus on Lewisham High Street.

I'm convinced sleeps begets sleep.

Depends on the child and this is only true when they are very young. By the time they ar at school the only people I know who complain about early risers are those who put their DC to bed very early.

Our youngest used to wake up religiously at 5am from the age of about 1yr,after being a really good sleeper(to about 7am - bliss)We moved house when she was 2 and suddenly she started waking at around 6.30 - 7am again(which was regarded as a lie in)So maybe something in or near our old house made a noise that disturbed her at that time.My teenager never wants to get out of bed now and that started at around age 12 - 13 and my youngest age 11,who has always been the early to bed, early to rise type of person, has started going to bed later and lying in till 9.30 - 10 am.Always used to struggle to get them up on a school day but up at the crack of dawn on the weekend when they were younger though - blooming annoying!!
