8month old not passed urine for 28 hours. Drs not concerned?

Sorry it’s long. Am I over reacting expecting health care professionals to be more concerned? Or am I worrying over nothing?

Not a dig at the glorious NHS. The service tonight has been great and swift to start with… But I am worried as there isn’t really a plan moving forward and we have been sent home! Without DS having a wee in 28 hours.

I called called 111 7pm. Spoken to clinician. Sent to OOH Gp 9pm and they agreed it was strange he has not passed urine. He is presenting well. Smiley and doesn’t look that sick. Still eating and drinking as normal. Which is why we are baffled. They seemed very proactive to start with and very fast to get him seen so I am grateful. The OOH gp said I can’t really let him leave without having a wet nappy, (I agreed) then they called the bigger but local hospital for us to see if we should go down for a water challenge 10pm. Left waiting room so they could arrange this. Then called husband expecting to have a few hours waiting in paediatric unit. Seemed like a good idea.

Next thing I know - they return and say actually you can go home. I’m sure he will eventually go for a wee. Give dehydration sachets if you like.

I asked how long it’s safe to wait?! But got no straight answers. So I’ve turned to the internet to ask for advice. The internet says if your baby hasn’t passed urine for 12 hours seem urgent care. But it’s been double that and they said oh well.. wait and see.

Thank you if you’re reading this.

Thanks everyone. Finally got someone to listen who sat and went through all the time
lines. After a stressful 30 hours he finally did a small smelly urine! So bit of a relief.

He has raised blood pressure but in my foggy state I can’t remember exactly what it was now. Could this be linked?

We’ve brought him home with guidelines to keep fluid up and notes on input/output.

Thanks so much for this thread. It’s sometimes hard to trust your gut as you don’t want to be a nuisance. Xx
