Hey!

So my little one is 17 months and is a milk monster. I'm struggling so much with trying to get her off it or reducing it!

So she was diagnosed from 7 week with a dairy allergy I never believed it was a dairy allergy I always thought it was a lactose intolerance. My mum, sister and nephew all are lactose intolerant. But they won't diagnose lactose intolerance until she's 5. Anyways she's been on pepti 1 from 7 weeks and thrived on it. Then when we started weaning she gradually reduced the amount she was taking and finally we got to only having 2 maybe 3 6oz bottles a day. She then got a bad cold and was poorly and went back upto 10 bottles a day and still having 3 meals and snacks. I got in touch with my doctor's and they told me that she's overweight, eating too much and this was dangerous. They never saw her face to face and if you seen her you'd tell me she was under weight rather than over. Anyways u asked for a appointment with the nutritionists and was told it would be a couple of months. 4 months later still waiting. So I took it upon myself to try and get her off the formula. So I found a lactose free milk and I slowly weaned her onto that just before Xmas. She was doing great and loving it. Her poos were finally normal and she seemed so much happier in herself. Nailed it I thought. We've gone onto just that milk now with no formula and she's guzzling it like it's going out of fashion but only a night. She's having 5 maybe 6 5oz bottles of it between 10pm and 6am and then she's not having anymore until 3pm for her nap. Now I know she's using it as a comfort and to go to sleep but I've tried everything. Cry it out method. Switching milk to water. Putting it in a sippy cup not a bottle. Putting her to bed without a bottle. But nothing is working. She is absolutely heart broken and screams so loud and the only thing that settles her is a bottle of milk. She's 17 months and we've had 3 full night sleep and the rest she wakes every 2 ish hours. I'm at my wits end. She eats like a trooper through the day and has healthy snacks and some un healthy snacks. She has a good balanced diet and she uses so much energy through the day. She never stops. Doctors aren't helping. And I feel that it might be a problem... anyone else gone through the same? Am I over reacting and this is normal? Is my child sick? My head is going to explode.

Sorry for the long post thanks if you made it this far

Over feeding, especially with milk is common with silent reflux. In an older child silent reflux is often caused by an allergy. I would going dairy and soya free for a while.

I believe Aptamil Pepti still contains lactose (someone correct me?)

I agree with PP to try a dairy free milk such as oat milk.

My son loves a baby bottle of cortial, not ideal but better than having too much milk

That's a huge amount of milk during the night.

How do you care for her teeth during the night after all that milk from a baby bottle?
Hasn’t her dentist spoken to you about it?
