Does the shop you work for do deliveries? You could ask them if you could retrain as a driver?

If you’re up to date with your vaccinations and not CEV I’d be planning to go back to what you’ve been doing, have you not been leaving the house at all during maternity leave?

There aren’t many jobs out there that’ll earn you a decent living from home if you’re not particularly qualified, sorry.

WheelieBinPrincess · 04/01/2022 16:39

Maybe customer service I guess but you’ll need some training I’d think.

LIZS · 04/01/2022 16:39

Without relevant experience it will be difficult to find something entirely wfh. Most entry positions will require training and working in an office. Will your dc go to childcare?

Welshgirl87 · 04/01/2022 17:02

my husband will do the child care when im in work day and I'll either go mid shifts or evenings, but I dont want to do all lates I know most of us have no option

What kind of shop do you work in? Is it a chain? Could you look at a customer service role within the company - like doing live chat or similar?

Welshgirl87 · 04/01/2022 17:08

I work in a supermarket

@Welshgirl87

I work in a supermarket
Bonus - big chains are good for internal moves. Do you get internal recruitment bulletins? Can you talk to HR about your options?
Welshgirl87 · 04/01/2022 19:25

I need to before I go back to work ideally I want to work like 25hours a week

Have a look at sites like this?

Transcription jobs / typing jobs from home
g.co/kgs/kwbX4F

Can do from home. Hours that suit you.

AwkwardPaws27 · 04/01/2022 19:41

The civil service is very family friendly, lots of people work part time / flexible hours and most departments seem open to at least some home working (2 days in office, 3 at home is the current ask for most people I've spoken to).
You could look at entry level admin roles? You'd need to look carefully at the person specification and word your application to emphasis your transferable skills.

JurgensCakeBabyJesus · 04/01/2022 19:43

Do you speak Welsh? That's a huge bonus for MOJ/civil service in Wales even admin type jobs

Welshgirl87 · 04/01/2022 20:16

i dont speak welsh unfortunately

Dbro has worked in supermarket throughout and not caught it, even with two kids at school. How old is your dc and how much leave do you have left? Could you do quieter shifts if you are anxious. Cases will reduce once spring comes. Unless you or someone in your household is vulnerable it seems like an unnecessary hassle to change career now.

Welshgirl87 · 04/01/2022 21:31

8 months baby. I go back in april. Husband has asthma

OP posts:
LIZS · 04/01/2022 21:35

But he works too? Was he classified as clinically vulnerable, many asthmatics are not.

LIZS · 04/01/2022 21:39

So the situation may well have changed by then. Look around but recruitment can be very slow for many roles ie civil service.

Welshgirl87 · 04/01/2022 22:15

Yeah he works from home. I'm just scared of bringing anything home to baby and husband.

Welshgirl87 · 05/01/2022 20:34

Anyone recommend any jobs working from home?

OP posts:
WheelieBinPrincess · 05/01/2022 21:43

They have.

ivfmumto1 · 06/01/2022 00:01

Hi I'm going back next week after a year off. I feel the same as you. Was looking at dropshipping but looks quite complicated to set up - look it up and see what you think. As @LIZS said, it should be better by April..it's now that's the worry - I'm dreading it. Don't want to bring anything home to my baby and also I'm going through IVF again at the moment so if I catch it then cycle is cancelled. Enjoy the rest of your time off. Good luck x

Welshgirl87 · 06/01/2022 23:46

Thank you ivfmumof1. Good luck to you aswell x
