Open the windows

No tips, also something I'm concerned about.

Guess my list would be:
Separation
Wearing a mask
Handwashing
Keeping windows open
Running hepa air purifier in rooms windows can't be open

What I would be thinking about is viral load. The less virus your baby inhales the better chance their immune system won't be flooded leading to more significant illness.

If it reassures you, I had to take my baby to hospital with something non covid related. There were huge amounts of kids seriously unwell, coughing all over the place.

Nurse comes along and puts us in an isolation room. I'm practically crying I was that worried about covid.
Doctor came along and reassured me there was no covid in that ward (covid patients sent elsewhere) but then she said - we aren't worried about covid, covid is the least of worries - these kids have RSV and bronchiolitis which is far more serious to your newborn, so we've isolated you from that not covid (didn't help my general panic! Haha).

She was completely fine :-). We were there because our GP sent us - baby had an allergy. It was not an emergency but GP was sending everyone to A&E (grrrr).

We didn't catch anything while there. But only retold the tail to reassure you that the doctors and nurses were far more concerned about my baby catching RSV, Flu than covid. We walked away not catching anything by just taking all the usual precautions - isolating in a booth, washing hands, me wearing a mask, sterilising and wiping down baby stuff with milton wipes etc when I got home I washed all the blankets and everything but we were fine :-)

@Kinko yes my son had bronchiolitis as a baby and ended up on CPAP, Covid doesn't effect them like this fortunately unless there or health problems!

RedwineforSantaplease · 02/01/2022 15:33

We all had it when DS was a newborn - older DC brought it home from nursery. All fine, both kids were better and got over it more quickly than me & DH did.

I have a 7 month old, beginning of December we all had covid at home and he did get a temp but I didn't test him as we were all isolating anyway. We had to act as normal with cuddles etc as there was nothing else we could do. Anyway, he is fine, he just had a cold for a few days.

DH and I both tested positive last week when our newborn was only 4 days old. He has been absolutely fine. We've had no choice but to carry on as normal with him, and thankfully he hasn't been up nor down. I don't know if he has it or not, we obviously haven't tested him as he is so small, but he seems not to have been affected.
We are both double vaccinated and had our boosters only 4 days before he was born, not sure if this made any difference or not?
