My surgery have delayed my baby’s 12 month jabs. She’s now 13+1. I’m Going to chase them on Tuesday as soon as they open but I’m worrying now I should have insisted. Anyone else in this position?

My DD had hers cancelled 3 times as she had a temperature each time. She had them at 14 months (8 weeks late), I was advised it wasn’t an issue if these where delayed.

October2020 · 01/01/2022 21:41

It's not an issue. GPs are on their knees, catch yourself before you 'insist' Hmm

I completely forgot the 16 week ones and brought my DS in when he was 9 months already. The nurses didn’t say a thing.
And they told me that 12 months one should be done anytime after their 1st birthday.
So I’m pretty sure you have nothing to worry about!

@DressingGown87 did they say why it wasn’t an issue? I thought these were quite important

No problem for the individual child. Our doctor is concerned herself that delayed vaccinations will cause a measles epidemic at nurseries a bit down the line, but there’s nothing she can do, so insisting might not help.

DressingGown87 · 01/01/2022 21:50

@Notwithittoday they did state why, but I was slightly worried she wasn’t having them on time, as I thought they must be given “x amount of months apart.” But they reassured me I had “time” and to make sure she was well before she had them. They are important, but think the window is flexible. (I’m not medically trained just speaking from experience)

Notwithittoday · 01/01/2022 21:52

Thanks for replying. I think I’m just concerned because it will be the first dose for some, rather than booster.

My son is having his soon, he will be 13 months and a week or so. I didn’t think it was problem.

choosername1234 · 01/01/2022 21:57

Yep, same here. Cancelled twice due to staff sickness & once due to baby having a fever. Booked again in 2 weeks when she will be 14.5 months
Yes, the immunisations are very important but these are exceptional times and the clinicians want to give them and will be trying their best

minniep · 01/01/2022 21:58

My daughter went through an awful bout of constant sickness at that age so was months and months behind with her vaccinations. My gp said not to worry it's normal at that age and it's actually unusual for children to get them bang on time especially during winter with so many different types of bugs going around

if they delay and cancel immunisations they'll be on their knees then 🙄

That's because it's really not a problem.

Many leaflets say they're due at one year, but other policy documents say 'up to 13 months' and there is plenty of flex in the system, so being a bit after 13 months really isn't going to make any difference whatsoever

Notwithittoday · 01/01/2022 22:04

Really appreciate everyone responding. I feel less worried now. I have crippling anxiety- not intentionally wanting to make a nuisance of myself at the surgery

My DD was due hers in the height of the pandemic, (pre vaccines everywhere in full lockdown!) she got
Them at about 14 months… no issue just not

When I phoned my GP practice to book my DD’s jabs, they told me they didn’t do them until 13 months.. she had them at 13 months and 2 weeks. Had no issues (she’s 20 months now).
