Small folding sturdy buggy

Can anyone recommend a stroller/buggy that is not flimsy, hardy and decent size wheels, but that folds small, preferably not umbrella fold?

We currently have a Mamas and Papa's Occarro which I absolutely love, it's comfy, cosy and super sturdy with big wheels but it's so heavy and big once folded. No room in the boot for anything else!

The baby jogger city mini sounds like it would fit the bill, it's a great buggy, folds easily and small.

BJCM gets my vote too. Am counting down the days until DD2 is sitting independently and we can switch over to it.

They have a GT version for rougher terrain which we have, as we live rurally. Same size folded.

Does the baby have to sit independently to use it? My baby is only 4 months old, but too long and too nosy for the pram!

I really like it and it's a good price. The only thing I am not sure of is that recline, we have a Mamas and Papa's stroller that has the strap thing to sit the seat up and it's a pain in the arse, so fiddly and doesn't sit the seat upright enough!

Joolz aer? It’s from 6 months though.

NannyR · 01/01/2022 19:40

It has a very good recline but I'm not sure of the actual age it's suitable from.

abbs1 · 01/01/2022 19:50

We have the Joie Litetrax 4 and we love it. Big wheels, light but sturdy, has 4 different reclines and folds down well.

Caspianberg · 01/01/2022 19:52

We have a babyzen yo-yo which we love for small folding.
Still have giant mountain buggy for proper off roaring when not in the car

HalloHello · 01/01/2022 20:06

Thanks for your replies! The wheels of most of these are so tiny, just don't think they'd be good in the terrain where we live. The Hauck one looks good but it's ugly 🤣🤣 I have so many specification haha!

I meant Hauck Citi Neo sorry! It is quite streamlined and nice in black. It is really light and easy to fold down.

Caspianberg · 01/01/2022 20:13

If you want something that folds in one piece but not tiny, the mountain swift is pretty good. The seat lies fully flat and can be used from birth. But still takes up most the boot.

You can’t really get tiny but large wheels. Hence why most people end up with two. The babyzen we use for trips to shops, doctors, pool, travel, mainly in the car. The mountain buggy for all local walks, or in car if walking as it’s too ‘country’ around here.

Could you do similar? Keep occaro for long days out and walks whilst small, and get basic nifty smaller for when you need boot space.

Also sling? I still use most days, and Ds is 20 months. Back carry now.

BJCM, GT version if you need it for tough terrain. It lies almost flat, and I used it with a newborn to 4 years old. Brilliant design. Massive hood means I ever needed a rain or sun cover either.

We have a chicco goody it's excellent.

Albgo · 01/01/2022 20:23

Out n about GT.

I do use the wrap sling for quick popping in and out of shops and nursery run for my older girl if we are just in and out the car, and the ergo baby carrier for beach walks. The problem is when we need to take a lot of stuff like picnic, and my daughter's stuff we need a buggy for the storage and then if she wants her bike too, we can't fit it in the boot with the buggy. It's just a whole thing 😂😂 maybe we need a bike rack or a roof box 🙈🙈🙈

I’m sure how small it folds, but the Thule spring?

HalloHello · 02/01/2022 08:54

Yes I really like Thule but they're a bit over budget unfortunately!

@HalloHello

I really rate it. It goes up to a higher weight than other strollers do as well. We don't live urban and it does us, though the wheels are not off track ones x

AthenaPopodopolous · 02/01/2022 10:06

Joie litetrax is great. One hand fold, sturdy and roomy. Lockable swivel wheels, big basket. Bar a top kids front and easy to push with one hand.
