I have an 11.5 month old with cow’s milk, nuts and banana allergy.

What can I spread on his toast other than dairy free butter?

Oh hang on, tahini and honey! Delicious, like a “nicer” peanut butter. Assuming he’s ok with sesame. I think you have to wait until 12 miners for the honey, but plain tahini without the honey is nothing like as nice.

TH22 · 29/12/2021 21:30

Homemade sugar free jam (basically very long and slow boiled down fruit!)

Hummus is a winner in my household

Changechangychange · 29/12/2021 21:30

Also why not jam?

TH22 · 29/12/2021 21:30

Vegemite is also another fav

Hope54321 · 29/12/2021 21:30

Baba ghanoush

Changechangychange · 29/12/2021 21:32

Oops, cross-posted. Well you could make your own mashed roast aubergine? Not exactly the same, but would still taste good.

loveablequalities · 29/12/2021 21:35

Any roast veg

Carrots
Tomatoes
Sweet potato
Squash etc

Non dairy yoghurt maybe with a wee bit of date/maple/agave syrup or jam for sweetness

Apple/pear sauce

Jam

You can make your own houmous without sesame. Marmite or a low salt alternative. My dairy free son had a lot of avocado on toast (he was quite partial to smoked salmon on it as well) you could make a fridge jam (fruit and chia seeds)

Rainbowshit · 29/12/2021 21:42

Dairy free cream cheese is actually surprisingly nice. Pate? Olive tapenade?

knobblykneesandturnedouttoes · 29/12/2021 21:51

Vegetarian pâté ? The mushroom one is lovely

stmw123 · 29/12/2021 21:59

Salsa

CustardGoodJamGoodMeatGood · 29/12/2021 22:03

Are there any baby jars he can eat? I used those on DD's toast and in pasta etc

SilverHairedCat · 29/12/2021 22:23

Lemon curd
Jam
Pate

You can make them yourself if you're worried about ingredients.

copernicium · 29/12/2021 22:29

Lotus biscoff spread
Marmite
Marmalade

AliasGrape · 29/12/2021 22:31

You can make jam with chia seeds and fruit
Homemade hummus
Tuna blitzed with butter beans and lemon juice makes quite a nice spread, just whizz it all up in the blender
We also have pumpkin seed butter here
Mashed avocado
Canned sardines or mackerel in tomato sauce - mash with a fork

EezyOozy · 29/12/2021 22:32

Vegan cream cheese
Seed butters
Compote
Vegan margarine

EezyOozy · 29/12/2021 22:34

Tartex?!

supadupapupascupa · 29/12/2021 22:35

Bovril. Omg. With butter

onetwothreeadventure · 29/12/2021 22:37

I have a dairy free toddler who likes honey (when he's 1 year old), jam, avocado, poached egg, Oatly do a creamy spread - not sure if there's any cross over with the other allergens you mentioned but those our the favourites here.

Noodleted · 29/12/2021 22:50

Soft boiled egg, peeled and mashed up.
Apple puree (apple sauce basically)
Homemade hummus made without tahini, so just chickpeas, garlic and lemon juice whizzed up in a blender.
Any kind of beany and/or vegetable dip (homemade or shop bought)
Vegan chocolate spread - sweet freedom is a good brand, though maybe not for a little one quite so young.
Low sugar jam

Meadowblossom · 29/12/2021 22:52

Yeast extract. Don’t buy Marmite it’s to expensive (supermarket own yeast extract is exactly the same).
