Postnatal support

Hello, I’m hoping someone may be able to help with advice on hiring someone to support me after birth. I am having a c section, I hope, and would like help ideally with my toddler (just going to preschool and then school, maybe light tidying: cooking?)
Basically someone just to help out and maybe come on walks with me baby in the beginning, I found with my first I was quite lonely. I suffered PNA last time and would love to enjoy the period this time, if that’s possible. Would it be a doula, or a mother’s help? A nanny seems a bit too much as it’s not constant help I would like. I’d love some advice.
Best wishes.

When I was interviewing nannies for my son I met with a mother's help. It wasn't really what we needed at the time but it looked like a wonderful idea for exactly what you're describing. Beyond Googling or asking around locally I'm not sure how you'd look for one though, I found her by asking on my local residents Facebook page.

Lovely, thank you, that’s a great idea!

The doulas we interviewed in London 7 years ago were pricey then - dread to think how much a doula would be now! We found a trainee doula in the end who was amazing and did some postnatal visits too but she didn’t do much as she had pre natal clients to worry about too.
Mothers help sounds just the thing. Or a childcare student looking for some paid experience.
Or you might find some success with babysitting apps - you can book regular help with Bubble, for instance. We found a lovely girl that way who was studying for her maternity nurse certificates and she was great.

Hi lovely, I'm 3 months post-partum and have had a doula helping me. It's been great!

I've written a blog here about some of the pros and cons if you'd like to hear more about my experience :)
