Random red cheek

My little boy has super sensitive skin, the cold really seems to have made it worse too. He had a few little spots on his right cheek and they’ve been there a few days but only noticeable when he’s been out in the cold.

Tonight after nursery there was a little red patch so I put sudocrem on which he then kicked off about and rubbed his cheek vigorously with him arm and he had a jumper on. This seems to have just absolutely sent whatever it is haywire and it’s now virtually his whole cheek bright bright red. It’s been like this for an hour now. I’ve managed to get sudocrem on it and he’s been sat up with it getting plenty of air but it’s still just as red! It looks almost painful but it’s not bothering him at all. He’s totally fine himself and has had a great day.

Only thing slightly off is he had a nose bleed this morning but it was after a few sneezes so I put it down to a burst blood vessel in his nose so I don’t think that’s related at all.

Any ideas?

Slapped cheek syndrome? Very common (especially in nursery children!) and usually harmless.

I thought this but he has no other symptoms and it had gone this morning but this evening it’s come back. Very strange.

Our toddler has this with the cold weather. We tried a few things recommended by the pharmacist. The only thing she will tolerate and that works is Vaseline.

Hers is also fine in the morning but by afternoon/evening is red and inflamed looking. My older girl had this too, she developed mild exzema around the age of 5 so I'm expecting the same with our toddler.
