teething and diarrhoea - any tips/shared experiences?

My 5 month old has had quite bad diarrhoea off and on for at least a fortnight now. I've been told it's linked to teething, and he has other teething symptoms (drooling, putting everything in his mouth, etc.)
90 pc of the time he's very happy and cheerful, but he seems to get quite agitated during some of his feeds, and seems to get the diarrhoea actually while he is feeding, which has him writhing about a bit.
Should I go to the doctor? I have a feeling the GP will simply look at him and say he looks/seems healthy, and there's nothing he/she can do.
Has anyone had this experience with their baby?
For a while he had terrible nappy rash with the diarrhoea, but that has now cleared up thanks to some amazing cream.
Tips,anyone?

Both of mine got nthe squits while teething, but I would say protracted dirrhoea is worth getting checked out

However, baby poo can be quite runny, so I used to find it hard to tell if they had dirrhoea sometimes. DS2 also used to poo after every feed.

Both of mine got nappy rash while teething too.

Still worth getting checked out though, if only to put your mind at rest,., That's what GPs/andHV are there for!

I would go to the GP, better to be looked at like an overprotective mum than miss something important. Put your mind at rest.
