So is this it now? Am I just going to cry about random things to do with my child forever?

Anyone else still doing this? My son is 10 months old and I still randomly cry over various things to do with him. This morning I was listening to Christmas songs and the thought of him being all excited for Christmas in years to come made me burst into tears 🤣

So is this it now?

My 'baby' has just passed her driving test and I'm in floods having waved her off on her first solo drive. It never stops...

@Allaboutthefood

I had the radio on last week and this song came on that only gets played at Christmas and says "when a child is born". I was holding my 3 month old at the time, looked at her and sobbed. Sobbed when that song came on in the car a couple of days ago again!!
Youngest dd is 22 and this song always makes me well up - I'm right back in the maternity ward cuddling each of my newborns and feeling like I could achieve anything!

I nearly cried in the supermarket the other day when I saw an adorable set of newborn sleep suits which remined me of my favourite ones from when DS1 was tiny!

And play
ABBA's "Slipping Through My Fingers"

Yes, this is it now.

I have dropped my children off at school with them having behaved horribly all morning, and then cried driving to work because I miss them. Hmm

TuesdayRuby · 11/12/2021 12:52

Yep that’s it. You’re officially a blubbering wreck for life now. Especially when there’s any sad stories to do with kids in the media. I obviously used to always think it was sad but now it really affects me after becoming a parent.
I used to be quite tough! Bloody hormones.

Just10moreminutesplease · 11/12/2021 12:56

My LO is only 10 months too. The other night after he went to sleep, I spent the entire evening looking at photos of him and crying because he’s just so lovely!

It’s bizarre Grin.

Yiayoula · 11/12/2021 12:58

TheWayTheLightFalls - Hate to break it to you , but my son will be 44 this month and I still can’t hear Little Donkey without crying …..

Yiayoula · 11/12/2021 13:05

The one that really does for me, though, is Little Drummer Boy.
I am a snotty, gibbering mess every time !

ItsAlwaysThere · 11/12/2021 13:18

Yup.

lljkk · 11/12/2021 14:24

The maternal hormones calm down eventually, but maybe not until he's more like 10 yrs.

ponkydonkey · 11/12/2021 14:25

I cried this morning reading a thread on here about someone struggling in a postnatal ward 🤷🏼‍♀️

My teen does make me cry but not in a good way... he was adorable years ago 🤣

snackess · 11/12/2021 14:28

Yep! I cried because DS was decorating our tree & said thank you mum love it. He thinks I'm bonkers!

ancientgran · 11/12/2021 14:32

I remember crying while I was still in the hospital, baby probably 2 days old. I was crying at the thought that one day someone would shout at him. I often thought of it when I was shouting at him for something, usually being horrible to his little brother.

DramaAlpaca · 11/12/2021 14:38

@All4Love

And play ABBA's "Slipping Through My Fingers"
This song still gets me every time, and I have adult sons Grin

Slightly embarrassing admission, I used to sing along to this and change the lyrics so they were about a boy... Blush

CherryRedDMs · 11/12/2021 14:40

If you’re breastfeeding, it does get a little better when you stop.

Nyz9213 · 11/12/2021 19:58

Yeah. Mine’s 4.5 and still happens sometimes.

Techno56 · 11/12/2021 20:03

@RaoulDufysCat

It wears off. I have a fifteen year old and I definitely have not cried about anything to do with her for quite some time.
🤣
EventOfTheSeason · 11/12/2021 20:17

Yeah pretty much! I remember crying the first time my now 6 year old had tummy time, oh god she just looked so helpless lying there Blush

BrutusMcDogface · 11/12/2021 20:24

Kids singing has always made me cry, even before I became a mum. Primary teacher; the nativity was such hard work to pull together but oh my goodness was it worth it!

BrutusMcDogface · 11/12/2021 20:26

I welled up today watching my 7 year old dance. She looked so beautiful!
