Can a 10 week old be teething

Hi all

For the last week my 10 week old baby has been chewing constantly on her hands, has bright red cheeks and slightly dribbling. Also in the last few days she has been pooing more and tonight she has pooed in her sleep which is unlike her - it also smells and looks different sorry for too much info. She doesn't have a temperature and is feeding extremely well. Could it be teething - is that even possible at such a young age? Thinking of calling the doctor but don't want to seem silly.

Thanks in advance

Xx

My daughter got her first tooth at 6 weeks old so totally possible to be teething at 10 weeks. Some babies are born with teeth.

Does the poo smell of vinegar? That was always the classic sign for mine.

Yes.

Yes it definitely had a vinegary smell to it - thank you! Poor little things I didn't realise it could happen so soon - thank you for your replies x

Yes, my DS had a molar come through first at 10 weeks Sad
My HV looked at me incredulously when I told her ... Until I pointed to the very visible white tips pointing through.

Molars don't come through first, are you sure it wasn't an Epstein pearl?

Babies can teethe at 10 weeks (most babies won't teethe this early) and certainly red hot cheeks and acidy nappies seemed to accompany DS2's teething, but dribbling and chewing their hands is quite normal and developmental and isn't really related to teething at all. They just explore things much better with their mouths at this age as they don't have very good fine control or feeling with their fingers yet.
