Shall I wake him?

DS 12 ( Yr 7) does very little for himself ( probably my fault - I know).
These last few months I've been trying to encourage him to become more dependant. Things like telling him to make his own toast- rather than running around after him while he sits staring at his phone, encouraging him to pack his own school bag and buying him an alarm clock so he can get up and sorted for school without me having to wake him and mollycoddle him getting him out of bed ( I still end up having to go in as he's been knocking it off knowing I'll still go and wake him).
Basically I've been doing everything - and been treat like crap by him too.
He has no respect for me and says he doesn't care that I do all-sorts for him he just enjoys the easy ride he has.
Anyway, last night he started screaming at me because I had forgotten to remind him of homework ( I have always checked what homework he has got and basically forced him to do it). This failure to remind him resulted in him telling me I'm useless and that I should "Fuck Off" amongst various in other insults.
Well, his alarm went off 15minutes ago....he knocked it off and I suspect he's gone back to sleep safe in the knowledge that I will go and get him up in time to get dressed for school.
Would I be unreasonable to just leave him to languish and let him be late?

Leave him but bear in mind you'll be subject to a lot of teen abuse when he does wake up! He needs to be more independent

Id wake him with a "you've got 20 minutes, im going for a run, get moving"

This stage in Y7 i was scaffolding much like you (although the waking up has never been an issue - 6.30 is a lie in here!). As we got to the end of year 7, most prompting stopped as he had always got stuff covered. I now only check on PE kits (4 days a week cause I have no idea which week he is on, and it's either M/W or T/T). We do have SEN needs making organisation harder tho.

Oh, sorry. Just re read your message - he makes his own breakfast. I would check he had packed his bag, but not check what was in it, iyswim.
