I have the most toilet resistant 3.3 year old in the world, any ideas?

It's true, I've tried everything and he just looks at me like I'm an alien. He also doesn't like nappies so I am almost awash with poo and wee. Totally refuses to even acknowledge that toilet or potty exists!

My ds was against the toilet too, we tried lots of things, watching daddy weeing standing up into the toilet, he now does this with great enthusiasm. Even this was done in stages though - ds was first weeing into a little yellow trug (bucket sized), which we would then flush contents down toilet and rinse and dettol, then moved on to weeing into toilet.

Next to tackle was sitting on toilet, tried a hard plastic seat - no. Got a soft padded seat from Home Bargains with litle yello trucks and diggers on it for £1.99 - ds loves it and in the past week has been sitting on it for wees, but still got to convince him to do number twos on it!

I am not totally there yet but we are making positive progress so just wanted to let you know you are not alone and he will get there eventually.

Also my ds is very big for his age so potty wasn't comfortable, potty chair wasn't comfortable, toilet seat not comfortable - you see a theme emerging here? QWorth bearing in mind!

Thanks for that, it's good to know we are not alone! nursery seem to think he is pooing and weeing on floor to play me up but I think he just can't see the point. Mind you, he also has an aversion to shoes and socks so perhaps I just have a budding naturist on my hands!

What do you do when he wees on the floor? I only ask because I have found the best approach was to just completely ignore it. Not react, clean it up without a reaction - not even eye contact. If he went near the toilet he would get lots of praise. With ds tho he didn't want to wee on the floor, if he could get into the back yard he would go out there as he knew he wasn't meant to! He just didn't like sitting on toilet/potty chair.

What does he do at nursery then?

All boys are naturists at heart! Clothes and shoes are for cold outdoors only.

Ah yes. He does prefer to wee in a specific spot on the kitchen floor but will poo anywhere. I WAS being very calm and laid back about it but must admit have been getting a bit cross which is prob not helping. Wears pull ups at nursery, and quite happy to keep them on there just not at home. However, he did poo at nursery the other day and they tried to change him lying down 'like the other babies'
Am sure he would go out with nothing on bottom half, this whole obsession with manhood starts at SUCH an early age!
