Yes, you save a bundle on childcare, your kids are getting more independent… how could things not improve?!

SauvignonGrower · 04/12/2021 22:07

Yes. School is more complicated if you are used to 8-6 nursery. But I've found life is so much better during the primary years where they are much more interesting and the play is less intensive and tedious.

Indecisivelurcher · 04/12/2021 22:08

In what way? My answer is no, but yours might be yes? I find I'm pretty maxed out, mornings we usually do jobs, breakfast, homework, walk to school, I work school hours, walk the dog at lunch time, run to school to pick up, snacks and TV time while I shut down my computer and do some cleaning, then it's pretty much time to make tea. Eat. Tidy. Play. Tidy. Bedtimes. An hour of tv. Sleep. Repeat.

Maybe I'm tired and grumpy!

GreenLunchBox · 04/12/2021 22:08

No. Childcare gets more tricky once they're in school. And if youve got two then it means more juggling

I’m hoping to work three days a week and during the two days when children are at school I might actually get a few hours of me time! Xmas Grin

Findahouse21 · 04/12/2021 22:10

Not massively tbh, but I enjoyed dd from the age of 3ish so for us there wasn't a huge leap in independence etc. Childcare becomes a huge ballache as well as balancing homework and clubs and reading. Plus trying to do any leisure activities in the holidays is busy and expensive. I prefer the pre school years!!

NameChangerDanger · 04/12/2021 22:12

Nope. Mine just started in September. I work 3 days per week, and was so looking forward to 12 hours to myself each week. But my employer just expects me to be more available. I am hugely stressed, looking for a new job and contemplating giving up completely.

Mumoftwoinprimary · 04/12/2021 22:12

Yes. Both kids in the same place at the same time.

Got harder this year as my eldest has gone to secondary.

AmyDeirdre · 04/12/2021 22:34

Yes. Get occasional time to myself, like a few hours every fortnight, and it is bliss.

Avarua · 04/12/2021 22:36

Yes. More time, less mess.

HairyScaryMonster · 04/12/2021 22:59

Yes, I'm in a dream position of working school hours and keeping my day off even though littlest is at school.

Looking at private schools so unfortunately won’t be seeing an end to huge monthly fees !
