Double buggy help

Hi,

So I have a 9 month old and have just found out I'm pregnant again. When new baby comes my eldest will be 17 months. I'm assuming I will now need a double/tandem buggy for a little while.

Wondered if anyone had any suggestions on what to get.

I don't know if there's any other options except buying a new buggy? I didn't get on with a baby carrier or sling with my first so not keen on relying on that as an alternative and he will still be a bit young for just a buggy board at that age.

So looking for cheap but reliable and comfy options if anyone has any?!

Out and about nipper. You could probably find one second hand. Or if you wanted new they keep their value very well.

Out and about double. Fab buggy and you can find plenty secondhand very reasonably priced. Mountain buggy doubles are popular too but am not sure about secondhand retail prices.

We had a Mountain Buggy Duet and it was great. Bought it 2nd hand for £200. Sold it 3rd hand for £150.

Fits through single doors and in all buses. Really light to push. Doesn't fold up very small though.

One thing to consider is if your toddler is taller/heavier than average you might find the pushchair uneven to push, so I'd go for something like a Nipper over a mclaren eg.

We have and uppababy visa and bought the adaptors and 2nd seat for that. It works really well and because its a stacked double rather than a side by side double it still fits through doors!

I had a Phil&Teds. An inline pushchair was much easier when the toddler wanted to walk everywhere (until they got tired). I could hold their hand, push the baby and we'd all still fit on the pavement.

I'll always recommend a city mini double. It was a workhorse. I miss that buggy so much.

I have a Mountain Buggy Duet and a Nipper 360, the Nipper is easier to fold (and it stays folded whereas I fond the MB has an annoying habit of springing open if you don't get it quite right), easier to steer and easier to lift when folded. One of my babies has a brain injury and he used to cry over bumpy ground in the MB but the ride on the Nipper seems better for him as he enjoys being in it. The basket underneath is better on the MB though. I have found the Nipper's tyres are less prone to punctures but have put slime into the tyres on both buggies and that has knocked the puncture problem on the head. I have a 6 month old and a 19 month old in mine.

Our abs about every time. Love it, you can get a bassinet for the baby then move to the seat once they are older. Agree with other a lots of second hand ones abs they hold their value really well.

I have 17 months between my eldest, it's a fab age gap.

Eldest only started walking the week that the baby was born, so relied on double buggy v much.

I don't drive and live in a hilly area so I survived with a single maclaren techno (you can use the basket at the back as a step like a buggy board for a toddler to rest on) and a sling for much of the time.

I didn't get on with slings the first time either (Baby Bjorn) but got a wrap sling the second time and it was a game changer.

I also had a Phil and Ted's inline and bought panniers for the sides, could carry loads of stuff and get on and off buses easily enough.

For weekend walks etc we also bought a cheap second hand mountain buggy, I preferred it to the out n about nipper as the mountain buggy had two front wheels which made it much more stable, as well as hills the pavements here have big cambers which meant the single wheelers were really unstable.

Congratulations Smile

Sorry, I meant relied on buggies very much.

I also found that buying and selling the above second hand was cost neutral, ie sold them on for pretty much what we paid for
