Soft play with cold??

I am a FTM and got a 12 month old DS who has had cold after cold after starting nursery. At the mo he is v snotty, coughing a lot (neg PCR test) and a little unsettled but generally ok in himself. He’s been going to nursery but I am supposed to have a soft play date tomorrow with a friend and her baby… would you still go? I’m erring on the side of cancelling but not sure if that’s ott

If it was a mild cold I would still go, but not with lots of snot and lots of coughing. You don't want to give other people that right before Christmas.

I'd cancel because it won't be pleasant for him if he's unwell.

I would cancel in your case, if it was just a sniffle then fine but not coughing and really snotty, I wouldn't want DC to pass it onto someone else if I could help it.

Generally any excuse to cancel soft play as I hate those places! Do a 1YO and a baby even get much out of it? But since you asked about the cold… mild cold symptoms I’d still go because toddlers are rarely without one this time of year and these places would go bust if people avoided for a cold. Dripping snot or loads of coughing then no.

I'd cancel. I know plenty of parents would still go but I think it's grim to take a snotty germy toddler who can't even try to avoid putting snot/dribble on things to a place where other babies/toddlers will be crawling around.

Akire · 02/12/2021 10:05

I wouldn’t because other children can catch and if they are in childcare they will be sent home for slightest cough cold temp and then another family will have take time off work and wait for test etc Why not let outside in park where they can go on swings and fall less likely pass on the snot!

Sorry, just realised I said toddler when at 12m he's probably very much still a baby Smile

Wellarentyouacleverdick · 02/12/2021 10:22

Ugh no please don't take your child to a soft play when they're ill. Parents who do this are the reason why they're germ pits!

Great, thanks, we will stay away as I think snot levels are just too high! Playground it is…
