My son has always been prone to illness. He was exclusively breastfed and they told me it'll help from getting sick. It didn't work for us. In his first year of life, he was in the hospital due to bag coughs & very high temperatures and breathing issues about 5x.
He will be 3 in January. Everything calmed down during the pandemic, he wasn't sick much and it was wonderful. Now, the past 3 months have been awful again, one thing after another and we were in hospital twice already, had 2 chest X-rays, been put on the nebuliser, liquid steroids.
PCR tests are always been done (awaiting results again as took one yesterday), he's not had COVID. Lateral flows have been negative for all of us.
I was up again all hours in the night due to coughing fits, he hasn't vomited yet but I know it is going to happen today and I'm almost certain we're off to A&E again at some point today. My husband has already said he'll be working from home tomorrow because he's almost as certain as I am.
Now, where I'm going with this: could he go on to "develop" asthma. I know they say they won't diagnose before the age of 5 but it doesn't seem "normal" to be knocked over like this by any "small" cough which then turns into a really bad cough.
My 7 months old baby had every cough that he had but it's small coughs, it's a little cold, no A&E for baby, he's so much younger but his immune system seems better developed.
Baby is back to sleep, so I'll try to get another 1-1.5h in the spare room hopefully before I get to tackle the day with my 2 after 4ish hours sleep.
