I have purchased the Medela double swing electric pump & the starter breastfeeding bottle kit, but don't think Medela make a bottle steriliser or warmer,

How do i know which will fit the bottles? i see a lot are advertised only for bottles of their own brand

any recommendations please!

I would not bother with a bottle warmer at all and I’d get a microwave steriliser - mine is a NUK and fits my tommee tippee bottles

I bought a cold water steriliser and used Milton initially as we didn’t have a microwave. I ended up pumping for 4 months and combo feeding. We got a microwave when we moved house. We used Mam bottles which didn’t need a separate steriliser in the end as that is what suited baby and then got microwave sterilising bags for my pump (medela do them but you can get generic ones). I found this easiest as I had two sets of pumping things so I didn’t have to wash them in the night and just had them sat in the bags waiting to be used overnight.

You don't need to sterilise anything for use with breastmilk if baby is full term and healthy, you only need to sterilise if baby is early or ill, or if you're using formula.

No you have to sterilise!!!
I recommend the Milton cold water one too. Expensive breast pump (also had this) and micro ones CAN damage stuff long term.

I got a Milton combi one. Could be used in micro but never did. Always used cold water. Pop the tablets/solution in. 15 mins later it's useable and good for an hour

You need to clean and sterilise the pump between using x

No, you don't need to sterilise unless in the above situations in my previous reply. Washing with warm soapy water is fine.

NHS guidance is to sterilise bottles regardless if formula feeding or feeding expressed milk.

I had the Avent steam steriliser, and then the avent bottle warmer.

I liked the steam steriliser because it was big, and I could fit loads more than the bottles in there. Dummies, teethers etc etc.

Echoing pp, get a cold water steriliser, so much easier!
