They were bloody enormous, so I'm guessing interphase (cytogenetics not my strong point though)

hmb · 23/11/2004 19:17

I don't quite believe that we are having this conversation!

I have to teach the upper sixth form human reproduction tomorrow! Deep Joy!

It is a tad surreal, isn't it?

I teach GCSE and A level Biology, so if I can help, just let me know.

Hiya - just a quick addition - when I did this last for a project with my Guides, we used one of those yellow plastic capsules from the inside of a Kinder surprise for the nucleus, then put bits of thread inside to represent DNA. You could use a camera film capsule instead, only the packaging doesn't taste as good...

hmb · 24/11/2004 17:24

We use the OCR text books in school and they are quite good. They take you through things step by step, have self check questions and summary pages

OP posts:
tamum · 25/11/2004 20:20

Don't panic nikcola Hav a look here and just expand it a bit!

tamum · 25/11/2004 20:21

(I'm hoping like mad you don't mean 100500 words on each )

hmb · 25/11/2004 20:44

Key pointto make nicola if you have to do osmosis with respect to the plant and animal cells, is that animal cells can explode if they get too much water entering them. In plants the cell wall stops this happening. In fact they need to be full of water to help to keep the plant unright. If they don't have enough water there isn't enough pressure against the cell walls and the plany will wilt.
