What does your 7-8 year old wear??

My daughter is 7. At this time of year she pretty much lives in black leggings and hoodies. Easy and warm.

She moaned the other day that she feels her clothes are “rubbish” and that she always wears the same stuff (probably fair) but I’m not really sure where to start to be honest.

She doesn’t like wearing jeans. Finds them uncomfortable. She likes dresses and she will wear them but she goes through tights like nothing else I’ve ever seen and I find it hard to keep up Blush they’re also extortionate and I quite often struggle to find them in her size.

Any ideas? I usually shop in places like Asda, morrisons, Matalan. Occasionally next and places like that but it’s really expensive.

Currently she likes dungarees, bright coloured leggings, anything Harry Potter related and knitted cardigans.

And cord skirts/pinafore.

Try leggings under dresses. Last longer.

Mine lives in tracky bottoms various colourful /plain sorts and tops ditto.

My dd turns 8 before Christmas and has recently started being a bit funny about clothes too. She used to be really in to dresses, and 'cute' stuff, but now finds that all babyish and wants to look a bit more grown up. It's difficult as she's now in the older girls range sizes in all the shops and it's all slogan crop tops and gym leggings.

But I have discovered Zara kids range which is lovely. She deems it 'cool' but it's age appropriate. It is pricey though, I will admit. She likes the oversized sweaters paired with plain coloured leggings. There's also some really nice ripped long sleeved tops in different patterns which she likes layered under a plain black pinafore type dress. I got her a pair of converse in the sale recently too which she loves.

Its hard at this age! H&M is often good if you're looking for something a bit cheaper. I do find you have to search for the good stuff though. I went in to Primark yesterday too and they had some very nice bits in the girls range but the prices have gone up a lot!!

*ribbed not ripped!

My GD aged 10 wears leggings, hoodies and T-shirts. At home she just wears a T-shirt and very short shorts. Their house isn’t warm - its just what she likes to wear.
The only dress I have seen her in for a couple of years is her pirate costume for Halloween.

Yes I’m finding this! I actually find quite a lot of the stuff quite inappropriate but maybe I’m just an old prude.

I'd bring her to primary and h&m and let her pick a few things. Also I'd go for patterned leggings.

Primark

Having a look at the Zara site and really like the stuff actually. Think I’ll go in and have a look this week.
