Universal footmuff recommendation

We've been using a Bundle Bean but it's getting really faffy to attach it every time and not really warm enough as it doesn't seal well around her legs.

I want something relatively compact/thin - we have an ergobaby metro compact stroller (think Yoyo size thing) and I want to be able to fold it with the footmuff on and not have it be mega bulky.

Water-resistant on the outside, because she hates having the raincover on. Fleecy inside. Decently long because we want to get two winters use out of it.

Ergobaby do one, which I'm sure would be the best fit, but it's £££ and out of stock most places anyway. I'm willing to pay up to about £60 but ideally not more.

I've just lost an hour down an internet rabbithole and can't figure out what to get. Help me Mumsnet hivemind - what do you recommend?

Make one - my local fabrics shop has beautiful fleece £7 a metre - sew round and double layer and elastic if needed and line with sheepskin !

We have this one on our pram, still folds down with it on so left on all the time. Not sure if that'll work with yours but the same company do different sized ones.

Have you looked for one on EBay?

ASNW5 · 27/11/2021 18:05

We have the John Lewis Anyday one, it's good and only £25

Etherealhedgehog · 27/11/2021 18:25

@RandomMess I have - sadly nothing. The buggy itself seems to be not that common and they only started making the footmuff recently.

Thanks all for suggestions.

@ASNW5 does the John Lewis one have water resistant outer - I couldn't tell from the listing?

I don't think so but it's pretty thick and has two layers so could stand a bit of drizzle!

I have a JoJo I need to sell it you want to pm me. Fits what you're after.

We had a waterproof buggy snuggle which fits the bill! Not sure if they still make them but ours was from eBay.

Stay put buggy blanket was also great for the tall lazy 3yo as it fits anything, is lightweight and less restrictive as it attached to the frame rather than around the child. Not sure if they come in water proof though

Himawarigirl · 28/11/2021 16:08

I got a universal one that was fleece lined with a waterproof outer layer on eBay that wasn’t expensive. I was officially looking for a Mountain buggy duet compatible one, but actually it was a universal one that fit all sorts of buggies.

LakeShoreD · 28/11/2021 16:15

I’d get the YoYo one if your stroller is similar, it’s the best footmuff ever- fleecy lined and like a giant sleeping bag that goes over their heads and tightens under the chin. The straps just feed through so I reckon it would easily fit on a similar sort of stroller.

Tiredmama85 · 09/01/2022 10:19

@Etherealhedgehog which one did you go for in the end? I’ve just moved my LO into the seat from the bassinet on my ergobaby metro and am looking for a footmuff but hard to know what will work with the buggy!

duvetdayforeveryone · 09/01/2022 10:23

7am 212 footmuff. Was so expensive but was perfect for my son that hated wearing a coat.

Etherealhedgehog · 11/01/2022 09:08

@Tiredmama85 I went for the Jojo one that has a water resistant outer. Basically very happy with it - does what I want in terms of being more accessible than the bundle bean, nice and cosy and water resistant enough that in a light rain I can use just that and the hood with no rain cover. Also, the buggy folds fine with it on. My only gripe is that, whilst it's very long, the placement of the holes for the straps means that most of that length is above the waist - so I have bunched up fabric at the top of the buggy and DD's feet are nearly at the end at 15 months, so I'll probably have to open the zip at the end fairly soon. I don't think that's anything to do with fit with the Ergobaby, just a weird design flaw of the footmuff, but it's not a major issue as the buggy still folds and you can unzip the bottom so we'll still get good use out of it when she's taller (also I got one half price on ebay - so all in all, felt like a much better deal than paying full whack for the ergobaby one!) If I wanted to spend loads I would probably have gone for the Ergobaby one though!

@Etherealhedgehog fab thank you I’ll have a look at that one. Agree the ergobaby one looks great but £90 is almost as much as I spent on the buggy 🤣 definitely in the market for something on the cheaper side. Will check out the jojo one and look on ebay!
