AIBU- why do parents plaster their kids on social media when they are ill

Just that really. Not just “oh Ben has a cold today” but “we’ve been in a and e for 4 hours”
I follow someone (will be unfollowing today) who has given us an hour by hour update of their child who has been in a and e with something the GP missed. This child is seriously ill (and thankfully will get better now) but there are photos and stories of them both looking rough as shit with a step by step of what has happened and what will happen next.
I’ve taken my son to a and e twice, and the last thing I thought was to get the phone out and take photos of him when he was distressed.
Why do people do this???

It's awful, and you don't need to update the world about your child's health.
How about some privacy?

100% for attention. Would think they would be too busy looking after their kid to be taking photos Confused they must need the one million 'you ok hun? Pm me' messages

Attention. I hate it especially the photos. It's invading the child's privacy.

I feel like posting photos of kids on social media is an invasion of their privacy at the best of times - but I have a 'friend' who posts pictures of her 16yo son and he's actually making attempts to cover his face to stop her doing it. But she posts those anyway. He was ill recently and she went into his room and took a photo of him asleep in bed, the poor lad look rough as hell, and obviously was asleep so couldn't object to the photo.

If a man took a photo of a woman in bed and posted it on social media without her permission there would be outrage.

So why is it okay to do it to kids - some of whom have specifically objected!
