Are there any baby nests safe for overnight?

We used a sleepyhead placed in a next to me cosleeper cot for our daughter because as the time it was deemed safe for overnight sleeping not just day naps. I understand that this has now changed..are there any baby nests deemed safe? We gave ours away so debating buying another but will probably just get a cheaper brand if only for day naps / somewhere to put baby when downstairs during the day

Nope none at all. They are handy for day naps though- I recommend the Kally sleep nest for quality and value for money.

Only safe for day naps whilst supervised.

There is no standard to approve them to, so it's not possible to say, which means all the guidance says no - despite what some of the companies will try to say about their one.

For supervised sleep etc it's OK - I actually just folded up a toddler duvet and stuck it in the carrycot for much the safe effect. We never left him out of eyeline in there but it was useful for being hands free for toddler etc.

The temptation though is to use it and then have your attention elsewhere, so I would see how you go without if possible. If your baby is happy to be put down in a carrycot/playpen on high setting etc then it means you do have the option to put them in another room to escape toddler sibling, or grab a nap yourself during that rare window where baby and toddler sleep at the same time! I have ended up doing a swing nap with baby shut in another room away from toddler, which I said I wouldn't do but the nap was pretty critical on that day. Seemed like newborn arriving was the trigger for toddler to get every single bug going from nursery so is off half the time which is not ideal!

We have put ours in a Sleepyhead overnight since birth. She sleeps between us in our bed though

That's really unsafe though and I wouldn't be recommending that at all. Safer to be next to Mum than inbetween parents, and definitely not in a nest in bed.

We have this a purfilo baby bed in our next to me.cot, baby loves it and sleeps well. These are approved for over night sleep (well according to there website).

No they are not approved by anyone reputable, in fact they don’t say who they are approved by and they are definitely not safe.

You don't need a best. Just use the cosleeper cot.

Thanks everyone, I thought it was too good to be true last time! They are quite handy for somewhere to put baby during the day when playing with toddler but not really worth the price for that...I suspect she might spend most the time in the sling so I’m hands free and can run about with toddler so might see how we get on.

We had a cocoonababy with our last, apparently they're used in hospital in France but that was 8 years ago.
It actually helped my baby sleep and when she wasn't in it would scream!
Again I csnt recommend it though as I don't know what the up to date advice is, you'd have to Google.

Sounds a recipe for disaster.. don't recommend others do this
Letsallscreamatthesistene · 22/11/2021 11:03

I used the purflo nest overnight, the one with the solid base.

professionalnomad · 24/11/2021 22:13

I'm not recommending it.
I'm just saying its what we do.
We're happy with it and it works for us.

At the end of the day we looked at the data and the evidence and decided what level of risk we are willing to take
